Visitors to my Flickr site sometimes assume that I’m a full-time photographer, but that’s hardly the case. As I’ve explained on my profile page, my "day job" is in the computer field: I work as a consultant, speaker, and author in software development and project management. That job includes speaking at various computer conferences, including the IT Metrics and Productivity Institute’s "Software Best Practices" conferences that are held in various parts of the country.

That’s what brought me to Ft. Lauderdale in mid-November this year. I thought I might find some interesting photographic opportunities when I arrived on the afternoon before the conference, but the beach was almost empty, and the "strip" along the beach seemed to consist of relatively boring bars and Mexican restaurants. So, aside from a single picture of a mysterious bird that I saw waddling along the street (an osprey? heron? who knows?), most of the pictures are of various speakers at the conference itself. These may not mean much to you, but it will give at least a small sense of some of the issues that software professionals and IT managers care about in today’s tough economic times…

Most of us must not be forgotten that animation is not just restricted to cartoon characters. We can say that to put it simply any moving image that has been made to do so by the computer is computer animation and the program need to run this animation is called 3D animation software.

While describing 3D animation software it is important that computer animation is just another method of creating animation by way of automation or computer technology. Although the principals are the same as when they are done by hand, it is just the computer who is able to do much of the preparation work and rendering of the finished version. At the end it duplicates the stop motion techniques of 3D and framing by 2D.

An interesting thing about this method is that by using the computer for animation is a systematic process. First of all to begin with, the object is built on the computer monitor. In the net step we have 3D figures to have a virtual skeleton. In a 3D software like Flash we can get the major movements such as for the eyes, mouth or clothing for example then the computer will create an action called tweening or morphing.

When dealing with 3D animations software it is important to remember that all of the same fundamentals and basics of animation are utilized. Mostly we can see with 3D animation, the majority of the work is done through the computer 3D animation software. But as we know computer or any computer software can’t work without instructions, and that is where the 3D animator’s job comes in. Regardless of the importance of 3D animation software it is important that the fundamentals keen computer skills and a thorough knowledge of the capabilities of the software are a necessity.

Computer Software question by MizG: How do I figure out what my computer software is?
I have a laptop I bought in 2005. I need to know what Windows XP it is, and I’m not sure how to get it. I need to go in and get some updated software but until I know what I have on there now, I don’t know what I need! I think it’s Windows XP 2002?? Does that make sense?
If it is, what would you recommend for me to upgrade my computer to?

Windows XP doesn’t have years. There are service packs and the last one was SP3. The main types are XP Home and XP Professional. Go to Control Panels->System and it will tell you exactly.
