How to stay on top of technology trends

Technology is ever changing, when you buy a PC or new cell phone it will most likely be outdated within the first month of owning it.  This article will help you to make the right decisions when purchasing new technology.  First, you have to research the item in which you are planning to buy, make sure it has the features you are looking for and most importantly make sure that it is expandable.

For example, when you’re in the market for a new computer look first and foremost at the amount of memory, the type of system, and what it can be expandable to.  Everyone wants a fast computer, look at the installed amout of memory that comes installed – then look at what it can be expanded to.  Next, look at the hard drive spec’s this is where your data will be stored and saved.  Make sure that there is plenty of storage space for what you plan to do with it. 

When looking at a new cellular telephone you will want to look at the service providers website and compare all the phones in which you are looking to buy.  When looking at a cell phone, the latest trend is touchscreen and smartphones.  Everyone has different needs from any technological device, make sure the one that you buy has everything you are looking for.

MOST IMPORTANT FACT – Google your device and look for reviews on the product you are looking to purchase. Reviews will tell you exactly what real people using the product think of it.  Most people who choose the device you are looking for will have many of the same reasons in mind as you do when they bought it.  They will give pro’s and con’s to the device, revicews will tell the truth about the product from real people, not the manufacturer.   Reviews will help you feel good that you are getting everything you are looking for out of the new product you have in mind.

Technology Reviews question by richard: Is a 4 year degree from NJIT in Electrical Engineering Technology worth alot in the workforce?
I continue to hear mixed reviews about a degree in Electrical engineering and Electrical engineering technology. Some say simliar jobs are availibe for both and others tell me I will be just a technician. I thought a 2 year degree in pre-engineering would do that? What advantages could i see if i were to complete the 4 year program that exposes me to Calculus II and Phyisics II? The school im in is ABET

We’re in a tough job market right now. Everybody has a four-year degree – at least. You’ll need one to compete.

Best to stay in school for the additional two years. You’ll come out with a more competitive degree, and you’ll come out (we hope) into a better job market.
